STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
We emphasise the fact that we have been family run Homes since 1962. The family and staff take great pride in their work, having all been involved in the provision of community care for over forty years. The Directors and the staff team have worked together striving to maintain the family oriented nature of the Homes. This is because we perceive this atmosphere conducive to provide a better service. Small Homes can offer people the opportunity to live an everyday lifestyle but with the care and support needed by each individual.
The Directors have experienced many changes in the aspect of residential care and have endeavoured to continue with their education to provide a quality service. They have encouraged staff training and have seen motivated staff continuing to achieve good standards in the qualifications.
Experience has taught us that not only are the individual needs and care of our residents the paramount consideration for their welfare - a fact now recognised of course, by the requirements for the planning and preparation of Individual Support Plans - but that it is equally important to identify and make allowances for the idiosyncrasies of each one.
We accept and encourage extensive Assessments prior to residency. The client is encouraged to visit as many times as possible prior to occupancy. We offer accommodation to mobile people with a mental health problem. We regret that we cannot offer residency ‘for life’ but will continue to re-assess the care package for as long as we are able to ensure high quality care of the type required. We are not able to provide accommodation for any person whom would require continual visits from an outside professional such as a District Nurse more than twice a week. We are not able to provide accommodation for any person who presents with Challenging Behaviour.
The Company adheres to the standards introduced by the Care Standards Act 2000 and finds it encouraging that the government has made inclusion into major policy that would assist people to remain in living in the community.
In assessing our charges, it is our policy to negotiate the same individually, taking into consideration the above criteria, subject to availability.
All of the above is conducive to our principal aims and objectives in seeking to assist those who reside in the Homes to establish themselves into the community at large. The Company wishes to operate as a residential care home for people with a mental health problem and to care for each person in the manner expected of a caring relative. The Company proposes to place maximum emphasis on enabling residents to manage their own lives to the greatest attainable extent. The Company also proposes to make it possible for the resident to maintain their dignity and independence. Registration under the Care Standards Act 2000 ensures that a minimum standard has been achieved. Our aims are to achieve an even higher quality of care to meet each individual resident's needs.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OUR AIM is to preserve the independence of the individual client, but for keyworker, carers, management and the Company to be on hand to help and advise whenever this is sought or required.
To provide more than 80% of the team trained at higher levels than NVQ2 in Social Care.
TO try and create a secure family type atmosphere and a feeling of security – an atmosphere where, whatever the weather or world situation, our clients will be happy and content.
TO try to instill a feeling that the client’s accommodation, their bedroom, lounge and areas all over the Home, is indeed their home and that they can take decisions about their daily life wherever possible. TO put maximum emphasis in enabling clients to manage their own lives to the greatest attainable extent thus making it possible for him or her to maintain their previous lifestyle whenever possible. Allowances will be made for personal idiosyncrasies. Normal daily routines will be encouraged, promoting participation whenever possible. In this way, our client’s independence and individuality can be fostered, allowing choice, autonomy and participation.
Clients will be encouraged to express personal freedom, choice, variety and stimulation. Occupational therapy, leisure pursuits, assistance with personal shopping and holidays are intended to be an integral part of the Home.
