RESIDENT’S CHARTER

Each client of the Home is an equal member of society and their individual self esteem and dignity is of paramount importance.

Respect for the rights and privacy of every other client will be expected.

A client will be shown any reports written by support workers with regard to themselves upon request.

Each client has his/her own room and this must only be entered when the client is present and offers an invitation to enter.

Theft of any other person’s property will not be tolerated.

There is an in-house rule that there will be no lending or borrowing.

Any tendency towards violence will be considered unacceptable.

Should any individual client wish to smoke, an area and times will be set aside for this activity after consultation with all the other clients.  Smoking will not be permitted in the client’s own bedroom for safety reasons.  ACL Care Homes Ltd does not support the practice of smoking and advises clients not to participate.

The Home will be an environment where individuals can flourish and people will be supported to pursue their particular interests.

The clients are full tenants of the Home and have available to them, all the security that this would offer any adult in the community.

Illegal substances of any kind are banned from the premises and any found will be reported to the lawful authorities.

The client is an adult in his/her own right and as such, must be allowed to make mistakes and take risks, as do all adults in society.

Support will be given at all times, but staff are present to support, not to have authority over the clients.  All issues will be discussed with all concerned parties, but ultimately, the clients must be allowed to make their own informed decisions and choices.  This would not apply, however, to unlawful activities, as support workers have a duty in upholding and re-enforcing all legal requirements.
