SERVICES PROVIDED
Clients are provided with meals and snacks, which are varied, nutritious and meet the individual's dietary, cultural and religious requirements. Clients requiring a particular cultural, religious or prescribed diet will only be accepted if the Home is able to provide such a diet of a suitable quality. A menu is provided which offers the client a choice of foods, hot and cold. Facilities are provided for the clients to make a hot or cold liquid refreshments or snacks for themselves throughout the day in an area set aside for that purpose in the main dining area. There is a spring water dispenser in the sun-lounge to provide cold fresh water.
The staff assist clients who are unable or unwilling to make drinks for themselves. A risk assessment is carried out for any client who wishes to use a kettle in his or her room. Drinks are provided at least three times a day and on request other than when meals are served and possibly more often, depending of the needs of each individual client.
In providing meals and food for the clients, consideration is given to the following:
The time and place at which the individual clients wish to eat has to be flexible. Clients are encouraged to serve themselves from the catering buffet bar for lunch and evening meals. This provides the opportunity to eat a hot or cold meal with portions of individual choice.
The client is consulted at regular intervals to ascertain his/her particular wishes regarding the content of the menu. These wishes are taken into account when planning future meals.
Subject to various Food and Hygiene Regulations and similar requirements, clients have the opportunity to arrange an individual menu, purchase the items, and prepare and cook a meal, providing he/she has been assessed as capable of doing so under direct supervision.
GENERAL WELFARE OF RESIDENTS
Provision is made for any client whose mental or physical capabilities pose problems when eating. Each client is assisted in a way that is most appropriate to their needs, whilst respecting their dignity and independence.
This includes:
The provision of essential items of cutlery, crockery, utensils etc., and any item required to protect the client from spillage, Food and drink being placed within easy reach of the client at meal times. Food being prepared to the consistency best suited to the clients needs,
When the necessity arises, a client will receive attention and supervision for the serving and choosing of a meal from the self-service area and assistance is also given to any client as necessary. Any wishes of the client desirous of eating alone or in private are respected and implemented whenever possible,
Menus are discussed prior to meals being served for the clients to see and alternatives are discussed appropriately, a record is kept of all menus available to clients.
Arrangements can be made for a hairdresser or a chiropodist to visit the home but clients are encouraged to visit the appropriate premises as necessary. The cost of this service is not included in the fee and should be paid on receipt of the service.

The main notice board displays the day of the week, date and staff on duty.
Key worker support is always available.
Visual Disability: there are clear large signs.
Aural Disability: signs and notices give information.
Mobility: key staff training, risk assessments, (grab rails, passenger lift and bath hoist).
Health: special diet control, nominated staff who specialise in Diabetic diets, supervised drug control
Ethnic/cultural:
A community vicar and a priest are available for monthly visits if requested. Other religious sects are not immediately available in the area but full assistance will be given to any client who wishes to consult any particular religion. As the Homes are centrally placed in the edge of town, many religious centres are within walking distance.
