HYGIENE REQUIREMENTS

From time to time certain clients require assistance with maintaining personal cleanliness.  When this occurs, a consultation with the client follows and consent to render assistance is obtained.  Such assistance may include help with bathing, showering, cleansing hands, face, feet, teeth and hair care, dressing and undressing but this would be a short term arrangement.  There is provision of a bath hoist at Arthur Court

We ensure that each client has essential toiletries, towels and equipment within easy reach and the environment is safe, pleasant and comfortable as possible having regard to the welfare and safety of the client.  Particular care is taken when bathing or showering any client and when necessary, two members of staff will be in attendance, the general dignity of the client will be respected at all times.

All oral hygiene items, e.g. toothbrush, toothpaste, are always available and accessible for the client's personal use.  The client is assisted to undertake mouth care thoroughly and safely, including where appropriate, the cleaning of teeth/dentures, mouth toilet and gargling/mouth wash.  All oral hygiene items are cleaned thoroughly and stored appropriately after use.
